FAFSA 2024-2025 Walkthroughs

The revised Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA) will go live by December 31, 2023. Completing the form can be daunting, and with the new updates, it can be even more so. But, with the right resources, it can be manageable.

Our first recommended resource is the 2024-25 FAFSA Walkthrough from the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA). The video, led by Keith Richie, Assistant Director of Outreach, is a concise 25-minute guide that takes you through the FAFSA step-by-step.

For a more in-depth guide, check out our second recommendation, the NEW 2024-2025 FAFSA Walkthrough from David Cantu at Best College Aid USA. This video is about 44 minutes long and includes a recording from the Department of Education, with additional commentary from David. This video is particularly helpful for understanding the nuances of the new FAFSA.

We strongly encourage students and parents to work together when completing the FAFSA. However, if parents are uncomfortable sharing financial details with their students, the form can be completed only by the parents. Students shouldn’t fill it out without parents’ input to avoid errors.

Completing the FAFSA may seem intimidating, but these resources will help make the task less stressful!
